CPM Program Requirements & Concentrations

For those who are interested in completing the CPM certificate program, please be sure to review all program requirments below and reach out to ministry@udallas.edu or call 972-712-4118 for assistance in planning out your program and courses. And remember, anyone can take a course at any time no matter if they are desiring to complete the certificate or take one-two courses for 'fun.' All are welcomed! 

General Requirmenets to Complete the Certificate in Pastoral Ministry 

The Certificate in Pastoral Ministry is comprised of a "core" series of 12 courses and a series of 6 elective courses for a total of 18 courses. Courses are typically offered over a five-week period, in two-hour sessions. They are offered at a number of sites throughout the Diocese of Dallas for your convenience. The Certificate in Pastoral Ministry is awarded upon completion of the 12 core classes and 6 electives.

Concentrations Available in the CPM Program

CPM students can opt to complete the program in two ways: (a) without a concentration, by taking the core plus any six elective courses, or (b)with a concentration.

  3. Introduction to Catechesis
  4. Sacramental Catechesis
  5. Family Systems Theories
  6. Adult Faith Formation *
  7. Catechetical Methods*

*Program participants may select one of the two "*" courses, depending on personal preference. Choice based on  catechetical focus (Children: Catechetical Methods; Adults: Adult Faith Formation).
