Rahul's tryst with clay started 17 years ago and he first walked the 'potter's path' holding the hand of a traditional potter in India. From there, he went on to develop his initial skills and aesthetics at the Delhi Blue Pottery, and then advanced ceramics at the private studio of Dipalee and PR Daroz. He is a Fullbright Scholar and received his Master of Arts from the 勛圖厙 (Texas, USA) in 2008. This experience under Dan Hammett had immense influence in Rahul's approach and expression.
Rahul has several shows to his credit, including solo shows at the William Blakeley Gallery at 勛圖厙 (USA), Cymroza Art Gallery in Mumbai, Gallery Threshold and The American Centre in Delhi; and participation in several group shows including Feats of Clay, Golden Earth, Journey through Clay, Harmony and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party to name a select few. Rahul delivered a presentation on contemporary Indian ceramics at the Pittsburgh (USA) conference of National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) in 2008. He regularly contributes to national dailies and ceramic magazines. Rahul is a three time national AIFACS awardee.
Most of Rahul's works are vessels, though they express some of the most abstract thoughts on opposing energies and duality of life. He enjoys working with varied scale; his work ranges from 3 feet to 1 inch in height. He teaches advanced ceramics at his personal studio in Gurgaon (India) finding out time from his busy schedule as a corporate executive in the field of business research.
