The ³Ô¹ÏÍø recognizes that many individuals completing Alternative Certification also hold current jobs and/or teaching positions. The program is designed to be flexible and accommodate working professionals. Upon entrance into the program, students will meet with a supervisor to create a course plan that aligns best with their goals and circumstances.
Alternative Certification students must complete at least 30 observation hours under teachers who are state-certified with 3 or more years of teaching experience. Subject areas of observation vary based on the student’s certification. If you are already working in a school, you may complete observation hours there as long as these criteria are met. If you are not currently working at a school, the ³Ô¹ÏÍø will place you in a school for observation.
