for an exciting opportunity to explore the sacred connections between the Catholic Mass and the Bible. In this series you will journey through the foundations of the Mass, the rich symbols and images that are present in liturgy, as well as how God’s Words continue to inspire and enliven the Spirit of the Mass among his people long after its celebration. The lecture series is offered in both English and Spanish.

Sept. 12, 2024 - Oct. 10, 2024 | Thursday Evenings @7:00pm | Zoom

This session explores the connection between the Mass and Sacred Scripture. In exploring the biblical foundations of the Mass, participants will uncover the rich symbolism and spiritual significance of each gesture, prayer, and Scripture reading in the Mass and how they serve as a guide in their own spiritual journey.

Oct.17th - Nov. 14th, 2024 | Thursday Evenings @7:00pm | Zoom 

This session will explore the vibrant portraits of biblical imagery that are found throughout the Mass: sacrifice, banquet, and covenant. Participants will journey through both the Old and New Testaments from an historical perspective to gain  a deeper understanding of the theological images and symbols that have and continue to inspire the Catholic Mass and our approach to worship. This session will offer both the well versed Catholic and those curious about Catholicism an opportunity to encounter the Mass in a new imaginative way.

Jan. 16th - Feb. 13th | Thursday Evenings @7:00pm | Zoom 

This session will guide participants to the intersection of Sacred Scripture and the Catholic Mass as present in the Words of God or lectionary. Using various readings of the Bible that are used in the Catholic liturgy as a guide, participants will explore the dynamic theological themes, histories, and spiritual insights of the lectionary and how they connect to and inspire the liturgical seasons, Sunday Gospel readings, and the life of our faith. This session is for all who are eager to deepen their understanding of Scripture in the liturgical context and how it illuminates the life of our Church and sustains our own faith journeys throughout the liturgical year.
