Federal regulations pertaining to the enrollment of F-1 students in the U.S. require that a student be registered for and complete a full course of study during academic terms. Exceptions to the full-time enrollment requirement are limited by regulations and include specific academic difficulties.  A DSO may authorize a reduced course load for a student experiencing academic difficulties, but only on the basis of the following reasons specified in the regulations. This exception may be made only once per academic level. Additionally, you must still maintain at least 6 credit hours during the given term.

 

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) or "internship", is a temporary authorization for practical training directly related to the major field of study (as listed on your I-20). Practical training can include employment, internship experience (paid or unpaid), and education experience. CPT is authorized by the International Student Services Office in accordance with F-1 regulations. After you have completed all of the CPT Application Steps, please complete the final application to be considered for CPT.

 

All F-1 College of Business Graduate Students are required to complete the F-1 Advising Form prior to registration. You will not be able to register for classes if you have not submitted the form. After you have submitted the form, and it has been reviewed by your Academic Advisor, you will be notified via email when you are clear to register for your classes. 

 

F-1 Letter Request Form

Please use this form to request an official letter from the International Student Services Office for items such as Enrollment Verification, Social Security Numbers, and Family Visa Invitations for graduation.

Exceptions to the full-time enrollment requirement are limited by regulations and include medical incapacity. Please use this form to formally request a Medical Reduced Course Load.

This form should be completed by admitted students prior to F-1 Student Orientation.  You will be required to upload a copy of your most recent I-94 and F-1 visa or I-797. After your documents have been reviewed, and you have attended F-1 Student Orientation, the International Student Services Office will provide you with a new signed I-20.

 

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is work authorization granted by the Department of Homeland Security. Immigration regulations allow F-1 students to apply for an initial 12 months of OPT to gain practical experience related to the student's field of study (academic major). OPT can be authorized at each academic level, e.g. 12 months at the bachelor's level, 12 months at the master's level, 12 months at the doctoral level. If you have completed a STEM designated degree, you are also eligible to apply for a 24 month STEM OPT Extension at the conclusion of your initial 12 months of OPT. Please complete the form officially request your OPT Recommended I-20 for your initial 12 months of OPT or your 24 month OPT STEM Extension.

 

All 勛圖厙 F-1 students, who are currently on OPT, are required to report any changes in name, address, employment, etc. within 10 days of making these changes. STEM OPT students should use this form for their six month check-in and annual evaluations. 

 

Please complete this form is you would like your F-1 Student SEVIS record to be transferred to a new school. Please note that you must be admitted to the new school before your SEVIS record can be transferred.
