Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business Graduate Scholarship

Amount: Scholarship recipients will receive an exclusive tuition discount of 20% off per credit hour for the remainder of their program.

Eligibility: New students who have demonstrated significant achievements may be selected for a Gupta College of Business Scholarship.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must: 

  • Be admitted to the MBA or MS program within the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business. Graduate certificate and non-degree seeking students are not eligible.
  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per term.
  • Remain in good academic standing.
  • Meet the following application deadlines (only applicants who have submitted all required application documents and fees will be considered):

Application Completion Deadlines:

  • Fall term: July 1 (Fall term begins in August and ends in December)
  • Spring term: December 1 (Spring term begins in January and ends in April)
  • Summer term: April 1 (Summer term begins in May or June and ends in August)

If your application is considered complete by the above deadlines, you will be automatically considered for a scholarship (no additional application required). 


"Babe" Hrivnak Memorial Endowed Scholarship 

The John and Elizabeth "Babe" Hrivnak Memorial Endowed Scholarship is for University of Dallas MBA students that have shown significant academic achievements in their undergraduate or graduate business studies.

Requirements:

  • Must be an MBA student
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better

Applicants must submit a 1-2 page essay on the topic provided below. Include your ³Ô¹ÏÍø student ID number at the top of your essay. The essay must be in Word or PDF format and uploaded within this application.

Deadline: Applications must be received by midnight, Wednesday, January 1, 2025.


Brown Endowed Scholarship

Carreker Corporation, acquired by Fiserv Inc., assists financial institutions around the world. The establishment of this scholarship honors Mr. Royce D. Brown, MBA ’79, for his service as executive vice president and chair of the company. Mr. Royce D. Brown is a graduate of the Gupta College of Business at the ³Ô¹ÏÍø. He earned a BA from the University of Texas at Arlington before completing his MBA at ³Ô¹ÏÍø in 1979. He has worked at various companies specializing in consulting services as president, chief operating officer, executive vice president, vice chair and executive consultant. Mr. Brown retired as president and founder of R.D. Brown and Company in Dallas, TX, which provided technology and operations consulting services to those in the financial industry.

Eligibility:
• Received undergraduate degree from ³Ô¹ÏÍø
• Must be currently enrolled as an MBA student
• Must be a native Texan

Heartwin Nelson Endowed Scholarship

Mr. Robert Nelson grew up in South Texas and earned his engineering degree from Texas A&I in Kingsville, now known as Texas A&M Kingsville. Soon after, he left engineering to pursue a career in business. Mr. Nelson eventually entered the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Graduate School of Management (now the Gupta College of Business) to pursue his MBA in the 1970s, graduating in 1975 with a degree in business management. He went on to found BAE Automated Systems with his business partner. After inventing a barcode system to sort baggage in airports which was placed in airports all over the country, including DFW and Denver International. Becoming sucessful, Mr. Nelson established a scholarship to assist students at ³Ô¹ÏÍø.

Eligibility:
• Must be currently enrolled as an MBA student
• Must be a US citizen with a financial need
• Must have an ‘A’ average in ³Ô¹ÏÍø graduate courses
• Must not be receiving tuition reimbursement from your company
• Award can be applied to tuition only

DFW RIMS (Risk Management Society) Scholarship

DFW RIMS is proud to continue its program of offering scholarships to outstanding applicants who are focused on a career in risk management, insurance and related disciplines. Graduate students are eligible, but must be current DFW RIMS members. The award requires the recipient be enrolled full-time at an institution of higher education during the academic year. Awards vary depending on multiple factors, including the available amount of the scholarship fund, the number of eligible applicants, and the applicants' qualifications. The awards generally run in the range of $250 to $3,000 per scholarship.

The DFW RIMS Education Committee will consider applicants who meet some or all of the following criteria:enrollment status: full time graduate student (6 or more hours per term).

  1. Field of study - normally a risk management discipline with a business curriculum.
  2. Career objective in risk management.
  3. Grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Relevant work experience.
  5. Leadership skills.
  6. Need.
  7. DFW RIMS membership (note that student memberships are available).
  8. Membership in the Gamma Iota Sigma risk management fraternity. 

The exact deadline for scholarship applications varies by year but is in mid-September; please see the scholarship application for the exact deadline. Scholarships are announced in late September or early October and recipients are requested to attend DFW RIMS's Fall Symposium in order to receive their scholarship. When available, Fall Symposium information may be found on the .
